Another week, another dominating performance, another three points. To say Liverpool took the handbrake off for the opening 20 minutes is an understatement, we completely commanded the entire pitch. We was more than worthy of a 2-0 Half time lead. I am still watching Jordan Henderson’s somewhat sublime finish now, a finish even former Liverpool legend Gerrard would be proud of. Half time was soon upon us, and a chorus of boos rang around Stamford Bridge as the Chelsea players left the field. Something that I can honestly say I have never heard from Liverpool fans, not even when I was out in Istanbul in 2005 and trailing AC Milan 3-0. It is not something I condone, and in all honesty the loyalty of their fans is once again questioned.
Chelsea got one back early into the second half, a familiar story that we seem to have to expect on a weekly basis. Some lack lustre defending simply gifted Diego Costa his goal. After that we again controlled the game well, in all honesty we never looked like losing. Another 3 points, another London club conquered, and another step closer to that League Title that I know this Liverpool team are more than capable of winning.
I am more than happy with the start we have made to this season. Henderson is really impressing me of late, and has been an excellent role model to the newer members of the team. I simply cannot get enough of Klopp. His mannerisms throughout the game, after the final whistle and in pre/post match interviews just goes to show why he is proving to be the perfect appointment to take this Liverpool team to their first league title in over 25 years, albeit early days into his position with our beloved club. His passion and knowledge for the game is second to none. The bookmakers now have us as second favourites behind a more than worthy Manchester City to lift the Premiership.
A league cup away game against Derby, and a home game against Hull this week. Fully expect 2 comfortable wins.
