Alexis Sanchez continues to lead all midfielders in points in Fantasy Premier League with 70. The Arsenal man looked to be waning after three consecutive weeks in which he averaged 3.7 points.
However, last week’s 13 point output kept Arsenal within touching distance of top spot in the Premier League. This week, Sanchez leads the Gunners against Tottenham Hotspur and kicks off the FantasySports.co.uk FPL 5 midfield magicians for gameweek 11.
Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal
Games: 10; Goals: 6; Assists: 4; Total FPL points: 70
Sure, Arsenal go up against the Premier League’s best defence in gameweek 11 as they take on Tottenham in the North London Derby. Despite that, Sanchez should get into your fantasy side.
The Chilean has been brilliant over the long-term in FPL this season. Against Spurs in gameweek 11 and Manchester United in gameweek 12, Sanchez has the opportunity to show just how world class he is.
Whether he starts as Arsenal’s No. 9 or playing off of Olivier Giroud, Sanchez can dictate the game for the Gunners in the derby.
Philippe Coutinho – Liverpool
Games: 10; Goals: 4; Assists: 5; Total FPL points: 64
Philippe Coutinho continued his great season last weekend with eight points. Coutinho set up two goals in Liverpool’s 4-2 win over Crystal Palace and the Brazilian leads the Reds up against some beatable teams in the run up to Christmas.
Liverpool play Watford at the weekend, a team the Reds have beaten in five of their last six meetings. Coutinho should do well again as the big red machine rolls on.
Eden Hazard – Chelsea
Games: 10; Goals: 5; Assists: 2; Total FPL points: 63
Eden Hazard was a major disappointment in the goal scoring charts a season ago. The Belgian has already scored more Premier League goals in 2016/17 than he did last term (five).
Gameweek 10’s 14 point haul was his best of the season, and this week’s match against Everton will put the midfielder to the test. However, Hazard has a hot hand, making him worth a selection in your FPL team this week.
Joe Allen – Stoke City
Games: 10; Goals: 4; Assists: 2; Total FPL points: 55
Like Stoke City in the Premier League table, Joe Allen continues to rise each week. Last week’s 10 point haul was his third best FPL performance of the season.
Stoke take on West Ham at the weekend and with the way the Potters are playing, Allen and company will be a tough team to beat.
Used as more of a playmaker at Stoke, playing behind the lone striker, the Welshman has responded well. He is worthy of your FPL team, which should be packed with quality midfielders.
Ilkay Gundogan – Manchester City
Games: 6; Goals: 3; Assists: 1; Total FPL points: 33
Compared to Kevin De Bruyne or Raheem Sterling, Ilkay Gundogan can be seen as a bit of a gamble. The German is often injured and has only played six times this term. He has only completed 90 minutes twice.
Yet, the midfielder is in sterling form at the moment. Two goals and an assist last week made him one of the top midfielders in FPL. His 18 point haul doubled his previous five gameweeks’ output. Can he do it again in gameweek 11? There is a chance as Manchester City host Middlesbrough.
The Citizens have a three week set of matches that are very winnable; and Gundogan should play a big part, if he can stay injury-free.
Bonus midfielder
James McArthur – Crystal Palace
Games: 8; Goals: 4; Total FPL points: 45
James McArthur is one of those FPL players that may be better on your bench than in your first team each week.
Against Liverpool in gameweek 10, McArthur tallied his most points this term with 15. However, he averaged a mere two in the preceding three gameweeks. McArthur could be the solution for your team if it is ravaged by injuries and you need a cheap fix (£5.0 million).
This week Palace play Burnley, which is the Eagles best chance to get back to winning ways. A home match against Manchester City in gameweek 12 doesn’t offer as much hope.
