Fantasy Premier League defenders that score are in high demand for gameweek 15.
Kyle Walker was gameweek 14’s top defender as the Tottenham man put in his best points return in some time. Walker’s seven points was his best output since gameweek 9.
However, with Manchester United up next for Tottenham, Walker isn’t a shoe-in to make FantasySports.co.uk’ 5 Fantasy Premier League defenders to dominate list.
Gameweek 15 is just around the corner and finding point scoring defenders isn’t an easy task; but it can be done.
Marcos Alonso – Chelsea
Games: 9; Clean sheets: 6; Total FPL points: 54
Marcos Alonso is seventh in total points for FPL defenders, and while Cesar Azpilicueta and Gary Cahill sit higher in the rankings, Alonso had the best points haul in gameweek 14 of the three.
The Spaniard was excellent against Manchester City scoring six points.
West Brom are up next, and Alonso and company have another clean sheet on their horizon.
Antonio Conte’s men will now usher in a set of easy fixtures until clashing with Spurs in early January. Alonso is perfect for a spot in your Fantasy Premier League defenders.
Steve Cook – Bournemout
Games: 14; Clean sheets: 4; Total FPL points: 54
Steven Cook sits level with Alonso on the Fantasy Premier League defenders list. The Bournemouth defender tallied a surprising seven points against Liverpool last weekend.
Cook and company face Burnley away before a home fixture with a struggling Leicester. A spot in your Fantasy Premier League defenders for gameweek 15 is a good call, especially with Cook costing a mere £5 million.
Kyle Walker – Tottenham
Games: 14; Clean Sheets: 6: Total FPL points: 61
Walker got off to a hot start this Fantasy Premier League season. However, the defender cooled just as Spurs did. Last weekend’s performance was more in tune with what he had done in the season’s opening weekends.
Spurs may have Manchester United up next, but the Red Devils are far from lighting the Premier League on fire with goals.
Walker and company are worth a punt this weekend and will follow-up the fixture with matches against Hull and Burnley.
James Tomkins – Crystal Palace
Games: 10; Goals: 3; Total FPL points: 33
James Tomkins’ points totals, or lack thereof, can be attributed to playing 85 or more minutes just eight times this term.
Tomkins tallied 13 points in last weekend’s win over Southampton. Palace have Hull up next in a six-point cliched fixtures. Tomkins is a £5 million Fantasy Premier League defender, a bargain for anyone looking for a cheap option.
Cesar Azpilicueta – Chelsea
Games: 14; Clean sheets: 7; Total FPL points: 60
The Spaniard had a down weekend against Manchester City, but Azpilicueta has been nothing but quality all season.
Of Chelsea’s back three against City, Azpilicueta scored the highest rating via WhoScored.com. Although he has had back-to-back weeks scoring two points, the defender should do better in gameweek 15 at home against West Brom.
The Baggies are no slouches this season, but Chelsea have been far superior to almost any opponent in the Premier League.
Bonus Goalkeeper
Hugo Lloris – Tottenham
Games: 12; Clean sheets: 5; Total FPL points: 47
Hugo Lloris kept his first clean sheet in five matches against Swansea last weekend. Spurs may be travelling to Old Trafford, but Jose Mourinho’s team have found the back of the net hard to come by.
Tottenham still have the best goals against record in the Premier League (10). Gameweek 15 will be another test for the side, but Spurs should have plenty of quality to help your Fantasy Premier League defenders this weekend.
