Gameweek 17 is on Fantasy Premier League managers quickly. The short week has seen several players return big, but it has also seen plenty of FPL players fall by the wayside.
Diego Costa continues to lead all forwards in FPL as the goal scoring leader of the Premier League has tallied 35% of Chelsea’s goals.
Does he make gameweek 17’s team or does someone pip him to this week’s FantasySports.co.uk list?
Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Manchester United
Games: 15; Goals: 9; Total FPL points: 83
At one time I said I wouldn’t be putting Zlatan Ibrahimovic back in the top five. Looks like I lied.
The Swede has been in good form over his last four fixtures. His 11 point tally against Crystal Palace was his best since gameweek 11. Although his assist for Paul Pogba’s goal was in fact a hand ball.
Manchester United have a favourable run of fixtures upcoming, all winnable by their standards. Moreover, they are fixtures in which Ibrahimovic can bully opposing defenders.
He is well worth a shot in gameweek 17.
Salomon Rondon – West Brom Albion
Games: 16; Goals: 7; Total FPL points: 73
I put Salomon Rondon in my FPL team for gameweek 16 as a cheap addition with potential. I was more than surprised to see him score 17 points against Swansea.
The downside to Rondon is West Brom’s upcoming fixture list. Manchester United, Arsenal, Southampton and Spurs will face the Baggies in four of their next five matches.
It maybe a while before Rondon can find the back of the net. Consider him for gameweek 17 at the very least.
Harry Kane – Tottenham
Games: 11; Goals: 7; Total FPL points: 64
Harry Kane is in a mini-FPL points drought. After scoring twice in gameweek 14, Kane has averaged two points in the last two games.
Fortunately for gameweek 17, Spurs have Burnley to play. They follow up gameweek 17 with Southampton and Watford.
Kane is worth inclusion again based on potential.
Diego Costa – Chelsea
Games: 16; Goals: 12; Total FPL points: 109
Of course, Costa has to be in the top five list as he leads all forwards in points with 109. Costa’s two point return against Sunderland was his worst since gameweek 9.
Don’t sleep on the Spaniard as Chelsea continue a favourable set of fixtures over the next three games. Stay with Costa as your main man if you’ve got him.
If you don’t, think about getting the forward in your gameweek 17 team.
Jamie Vardy – Leicester City
Games: 16; Goals: 5; Total FPL points: 62
Jamie Vardy has not lived up to the expectations bestowed on him after last season. With only five goals and Leicester with eight losses already, the team are struggling.
Fortunately for anyone that selected Vardy for their FPL team, the Foxes have four fixtures upcoming that look quite intriguing.
Stoke, Everton, West Ham and Middlesbrough are up next, and could be the run of fixtures that saves Leicester’s season.
He may not be selected on form, but once again selecting potential could land your FPL team loads of points.
