Premier League players are on the move with gameweek 21 on the horizon. There are also plenty of rumours of departures and arrivals keeping England’s journalists busy.
Morgan Schneiderlin
Manchester United have sold midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin just 18 months after his arrival from Southampton.
Everton have paid £24 million for the midfielder who continually failed to break into Jose Mourinho’s side. United have taken a £1m loss on the player.
Schneiderlin hasn’t appeared for the Red Devils since November, but is expected to go right into Everton’s side. The midfielder has played a mere 14 minutes this term, scoring three Fantasy Premier League points.
Perhaps a change of scenery will help his FPL totals.
While Everton have signed Schneiderlin, the Premier League team sent Tom Cleverly to Watford on loan.
Swansea go Dutch
The Premier League’s second from bottom club, Swansea, have signed Dutch attacker Luciano Narsingh. The winger has been a Swans’ target for some time and the club hope his addition will help them improve goal scoring.
Speaking after the move, Narsingh spoke of his dream of playing in England.
“A dream has come true playing in the Premier League, playing for a big club like Swansea, it was not difficult to think about it,” Narsingh said.
Swansea are also looking to add Tottenham player Tom Carroll to the side.
New manager Paul Clements and assistant Claude Makelele will take the team up against Arsenal this weekend.
Swansea’s leading Fantasy Premier League points winner is midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson. The midfielder’s 92 points is 27 more than second place Leroy Fer.
Middlesbrough get their Gestede
Middlesbrough have signed Benin striker Rudy Gestede from Championship team Aston Villa. The striker tallied four goals in 18 games for the Villains.
The striker has found life at Aston Villa difficult since the arrival of Steve Bruce in the autumn. Gestede has only played a full 90 minutes three times this season.
Middlesbrough are hoping his signing will help them move further away from the Premier League drop zone. The team are four points above relegation ahead of Premier League gameweek 21.
Chelsea let pair leave for Far East
Finally, Chelsea have let a pair of midfielders depart for the Far East this transfer window.
The big spending Chinese league has been happy to take under performing Premier League players, while English teams have been glad to see cash in return.
Chelsea made a cool £30m on Brazilian Oscar as he moved to Shanghai SIPG. Oscar will play under manager Andre Villas-Boas at Shanghai.
Meanwhile, Chelsea let John Mikel Obi leave for Tianjin TEDA. Mikel had played for Chelsea since 2006 and was one of the club’s longest serving players.
Obi won two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups, one Champions League and one Europa League during his Chelsea spell.
The Nigerian featured 249 times for the Premier League team.
