Gameweek 23 midweek EPL fixtures

Hot on the heels of the FA Cup fourth round, the English Premier League returns with gamewek 23. The midweek fixtures will be followed by a full slate of weekend matches, pushing each team’s wherewithal in the league.

Liverpool vs. Chelsea

Liverpool host Chelsea as the Reds have seen their season go down the drain in recent weeks. The loss of Sadio Mane to the Africa Cup of Nations has hurt the team immensely.

Liverpool have lost three matches on the trot for the first time under Jurgen Klopp, and the team is coming off a lacklustre FA Cup loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend.

Chelsea have won their last four matches in all competitions and the Blues’ defence continues to thrive. The team have only given up one goal in that four match winning run. Chelsea have kept three straight clean sheets.

Despite Chelsea’s good form, Liverpool are at home and need a win to keep their Champions League hopes alive. Liverpool won the previous encounter this season at Stamford Bridge, but both teams look incredibly different going into gameweek 23 than they did back in gameweek 5.

Arsenal vs. Watford

Second place Arsenal host Watford at the Emirates as the Gunners attempt to win their third straight in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Watford haven’t won in their last six and have lost their five previous Premier League match ups with Arsenal.

Alexis Sanchez continues to lead all Fantasy Premier League players and in the teams’ earlier meeting, the Chilean tallied 16 points against the Hornets.

Sunderland vs. Tottenham

Sunderland sit bottom of the English Premier League going into gameweek 23 as the Black Cats host Tottenham. Spurs have dominated the teams’ last six fixtures outscoring Sunderland 15 to five.

Dele Alli is in brilliant form and heads into the fixture with 11 goals in the Premier League. He has been great in Fantasy Premier League and continues to be one of the top transfers.

West Ham vs. Manchester City

Manchester City are winless in three out of their last four Premier League matches, but have won their last two against West Ham in all competitions. Earlier this month the Blues put five past West Ham in the FA Cup and have had no difficulty scoring against the Hammers.

Pep Guardiola’s men have scored at least two goals in nine of their last 11 against West Ham. The Blues could be without Sergio Aguero who is nursing a knock. He is 75% likely to feature, however.

Manchester United vs. Hull

Jose Mourinho’s men are undefeated in their last six Premier League matches. Yet, the Red Devils still sit in sixth place heading into gameweek 23.

Manchester United have looked great in recent weeks, and the team confirmed their place in the League Cup final at Wembley last week. Mourinho’s side defeated Hull over two legs to secure their place in the final.

Despite losing the second leg to Hull, Manchester United is undefeated against the Tigers in their last four Premier League matches.

Manchester United have all of their big guns fit and the team’s Fantasy Premier League points leader, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, will attempt to improve on his last match against Hull. The Swede only tallied two points.
