English Premier League gameweek 26 has eight matches on the docket. The English League Cup will take centre stage on Sunday, however, which has forced two matches to be postponed.
Arsenal and Manchester City receive a much needed weekend of rest as their English Premier League gameweek 26 opponents, Southampton and Manchester United, battle in the cup final.
The weekend’s league action will be highlighted by Monday night’s match between Leicester and Liverpool. Leicester are in crisis-mode after the sacking of manager Claudio Ranieri. According to reports, players had met with management to get the coach sacked after he led the team to the Premier League title last season. The meetings had apparently taken place over the course of the season.
This season Leicester have proven the team overachieved last term, while the typical top teams greatly underachieved. Parity in the Premier League has been restored, and based on the play of Leicester, it is arguable the team are actually in the position it should be.
No player “took to social media to thank” the former manager for what he had done. In addition, it is believed that Jamie Vardy, Kasper Schmeichel and Wes Morgan had been spoken to about Ranieri by club officials. Those three players have performed poorly for large parts of the season.
Leicester were defeated in the Champions League midweek by Sevilla after an appalling first half performance. The team did improve in the second 45 minutes, but ultimately lost 2-1.
Liverpool enter the fixture on the back of thrashing Spurs at Anfield. Sadio Mane is back in top form. His 11 goals is good for ninth going into English Premier League gameweek 26. Liverpool hammered Leicester in their earlier meeting 4-1. Roberto Firmino was the star that day as the Brazilian scored twice. Mane added a goal and an assist in the win.
Chelsea vs. Swansea
Paul Clements has breathed new life into Swansea. The team have won four of six in the Premier League and travel to Stamford Bridge with a new confidence. Meanwhile, Chelsea drew away to Burnley in their last match and only managed a 2-2 draw with Swansea last time the two met.
Everton vs. Sunderland
For English Premier League gameweek 26, FantasySports.co.uk said to go heavy on Everton players for Fantasy Premier League and Daily Fantasy Sports. Everton have scored nine goals in their last three fixtures with Sunderland, including a 3-0 beat down in gameweek 4.
Everton have scored at least three goals in each of their last three matches and they have not lost in 14 of 15 games at Goodison Park.
Tottenham vs. Stoke
Sunday’s only fixture sees Tottenham host Stoke in a forgettable week for Spurs. The team were knocked out of the Europa League on Thursday night by Belgians Gent. Spurs lost to Liverpool last time out in the Premier League, and the team are in danger of falling out of the top four in English Premier League gameweek 26.
The good news for Spurs is the team have beaten Stoke by 4-0 scorelines in each of their last two matches. Meanwhile, Tottenham is nearly unbeatable at home, winning their last seven at White Hart Lane. Five of those matches have also been clean sheets.
