Fantasy Premier League saw a few surprises in the team of the week for match day 33. Our FPL gameweek 34 defenders list sees a couple players make their way into our picks. Whether it’s Fantasy Premier League or daily fantasy sports, here are five defenders and a goalkeeper that will make a difference in gameweek 34.
FPL gameweek 34 top 5 defenders
Phil Jagielka – Everton
Total FPL points: 82; GW 33: 11 points
Last week, I said to get Phil Jagielka into your side for the weekend. Jagielka repaid my faith, collecting 11 points in a decisive 3-1 win against Burnley.
Select him once more for your FPL gameweek 34 side as Jagielka has a hot hand. Everton face West Ham and should continue their fight for a Europa League spot.
Antonio Valencia – Manchester United
Total FPL points: 112; GW 33: 6 points
Antonio Valencia has arguably been Manchester United’s most consistent defender this season. He continues to put up solid FPL numbers and a six point return against Chelsea was very good. Manchester United play Burnley in FPL gameweek 34 and should add another three points to their total.
Nathaniel Clyne – Liverpool
Total FPL points: 103; GW 33: 6 points
Nathaniel Clyne hasn’t made our top five in quite some time. But a six point return against West Brom and five points the previous week against Stoke, gets Clyne back into the FantasySports.co.uk good graces.
Liverpool have a brilliant run of games to close out the year and it is worth it to get the maximum number of Liverpool players into your team. Clyne could be one of them as Liverpool face Crystal Palace in FPL gameweek 34.
Jose Holebas – Watford
Total FPL points: 86; GW 33: 8 points
Watford have given up 52 goals this season, but defensively, the squad has put in some solid shifts. Jose Holebas tallied eight points against Swansea last weekend, and it was just another very good performance from him this term. At only £4.6, Holebas is a steady option for FPL gameweek 34 as Watford clash with Hull.
Marcos Rojo – Manchester United
Total FPL points: 77; GW 33: 5 points
Marcos Rojo may not have had the best points return of the season last week, but it wasn’t bad against the league leaders. Rojo tallied six points against gameweek 34 opponents Burnley in their previous meeting and another good performance against them at Turf Moor is highly likely.
Goalkeeper
Simon Mignolet – Liverpool
Total FPL points: 82; GW 33: 7 points
Simon Mignolet doesn’t get into many FPL top five lists as a goalkeeper, but I think FPL gameweek 34 is a good time to pick the Liverpool shot stopper. Liverpool host Crystal Palace before trips to Watford and West Ham, and home matches against Southampton and Middlesbrough to close out the season. It is a great time to get him into your team. Liverpool should run the table in their final five matches.
