Chelsea have expressed interest in Napoli winger and Italian international Lorenzo Insigne, but the club have received word from the player’s agent that the proposed £45 million transfer fee is too low.
Despite Chelsea’s interest in adding Insigne, the player’s agent has also expressed that the Italian is dedicated to staying with Napoli. Regardless of the transfer fee, it is doubtful Insigne would leave Naples.
“I would start by saying the offer reported in The Sun would be low and he has always been in the sights of many clubs,” agent Franco della Monica told Radio Kiss Kiss.
“The priority for Lorenzo, though, is to be wearing the Napoli shirt and be rewarded in an important way by his team.
“Now he has both and he is happy as well.”
The 26-year-old came through the Napoli youth team and has scored 40 career goals since becoming a regular with the team in 2013. Last season, Insigne tallied 18 goals in 37 Serie A matches for Napoli as the team finished third in the league.
Insigne’s contract with Napoli runs until the summer of 2022. While Chelsea are attempting to find creative players, the team may also need to find a Diego Costa replacement as the player looks destined for the exit this summer.
