Wayne Rooney’s last few seasons at Manchester United may have been sub-par, but the striker marked his return to Everton with a long-range shot in his return to the club.
Rooney’s goal against Tanzania’s Gor Mahia helped the Toffees to a 2-1 preseason win. Fans will hope that the striker can re-discover the form he showed just a few years ago, now that he has returned to his first professional club.
Everton will kickoff the English Premier League season on August 12th against Stoke at Goodison Park. The team will then face back-to-back away fixtures against Manchester City and Chelsea. September won’t be much easier as Everton play Tottenham and Manchester United.
