Rumours are gathering pace that Manchester United’s Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini could be set to leave Old Trafford, with Turkish giants Galatasaray apparently deep in talks with the player.
The United midfielder has had a mixed career at Old Trafford but was not expected to be one of those potentially departing, although United may feel the time is right, with an already over populated midfield corps and feeling they could get a good price for the player who polarises opinion amongst the United faithful.
Fellaini has been a part of United’s recent tour of the United States and Mourinho is a fan of his, utilising him 47 times last season as United lifted three trophies and finished their league campaign in 6th place. But United continue to chase a big name to add to their midfield contingent, with Nemanja Matic from Chelsea still heavily linked with United.
United paid Everton £27.5 million in 2013 and will be looking to recoup that fee as a minimum, but being aware that Fellaini is also in the last year of his contract.
Should United allow Fellaini to join Galatasaray, we can only imagine that the finalisation of the deal for Matic, Dier, or even Anderlecht’s Leandar Dendoncker, is imminent and it will be a case of one in, one out at Old Trafford.
