The summer transfer window has just slammed shut and Chelsea are already preparing themselves for a spectacular swap deal involving Diego Costa and Antoine Griezmann.
The two players have been much talked about in recent months and transfer speculation on both has been rampant. Costa was expected to leave Stamford Bridge for a new club, however, he has remained with Chelsea. The Spaniard wanted to return to former club Atletico Madrid, but the capital club are under a transfer ban which prevented him from re-signing.
Atletico will be allowed to sign players in January, and the Blues want to use Costa as part of a swap deal that will bring Griezmann to the Premier League.
Griezmann has long been linked with Manchester United, but a deal was never made over the summer to bring the Frenchman to Old Trafford.
Griezmann’s new release clause at Atletico is said to be just under £92 million, while Chelsea currently value Costa at £50m.
