With Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino denying reports that star England international Dele Alli is not having new contract talks, speculation is rife that the player is becoming ever more unsettled and potentially looking for a move away from Spurs.
Fuel is added to the fire with the revelation that Alli has left his representative Sports Agency firm Impact Sports – with super agents Jorge Mendes and Mino Raiola looking to secure the player’s services.
Alli started the season well for Tottenham, scoring an opening game goal in the win at Newcastle United, but his form has since dropped off – so much so that Pochettino is likely to hand him a start in their third round Carabao Cup tie against Championship strugglers Barnsley in a bid for him to recapture his form.
Such a move, in a game Tottenham are very likely to field a reserve side, could only serve to unsettle Alli more, whom would be of huge interest to a host of top European clubs should he become available – with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich all likely to fancy the star, joining Manchester City and Manchester United in a bidding war that would smash the British transfer record.
Tottenham would not want to lose their talisman whom has made such a spectacular impression since joining them from MK Dons for just £5 million. But the feeling is that the Club need to keep Alli happy and settled with them or run the risk of offers being made from Clubs that Alli would have to consider joining as he looks to further his career and win titles and medals.
