Manchester United are likely to make a sensational signing of Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani after the player fell out with teammate Neymar last week, according to top bookmakers.
Since Neymar’s arrival at PSG, he has been a polarising figure to say the least, and several players have had to leave the club to ensure PSG meet Financial Fair Play restrictions. There is a lot of competition for places in the PSG team, and it has led to discontent with Cavani in particular.
The Uruguayan is under contract until 2020, but with growing problems in the dressing room, it looks likely the striker could be offloaded soon. Manchester United, who have been previously linked with the player, are currently the favourites to add him to their squad.
Since the end of the transfer window, Manchester United’s interest in Antoine Griezmann has seemingly waned, and it looks as though Cavani could fall into the Red Devils’ lap.
The 30-year-old striker arrived at PSG from Napoli in July 2013 for £58 million. In 206 matches for PSG, Cavani has tallied 139 goals.
Although Cavani is being heavily linked to Manchester United, the team already have Romelu Lukaku as their main striker. Manchester United will also be able to call upon the services of Zlatan Ibrahimovic after he fully recovers from a knee injury that has ruled him out since the end of last season.
