Would Manchester United fight to keep Daley Blind?

Reports suggest that Turkish giants Fenerbahce are lining up a January swoop for Manchester United’s versatile Dutchman Daley Blind.

It is a move that would certainly tempt Blind, who has struggled to tie down a place in the United starting XI, fighting for a place with Matteo Darmian and Ashley Young, with Luke Shaw still on the periphery for the coveted left back place.

It begs the question as to how hard United would fight to keep hold of Blind, who may feel that with options in place, now could be the time to let Blind move on to pastures new, without him going to a club they feel would pose a threat to them – either on the domestic or European scene.

United paid Ajax £13.8 million for Blind back in September 2014, and would feel that they could recoup most of that cash, and likely feel they have had a solid three years service from the Dutchman, who has been more solid than spectacular, whilst playing with a variety of partners at centre half, before being moved to the left back role.

Whilst Manchester United enjoy an embarrassment of riches in most positions, they cannot keep all their star studded squad happy all of the time, and it would be no surprise to see the likes of Blind, along with a few other players, to leave Old Trafford in January, as Mourinho continues to adjust his squad in what promises to be a season to remember for the Red Devils.
