Aston Villa are prepared to sell full-back Jordan Amavi to Marseille for £8.9 million. The French defender has impressed Marseille since joining the team in August on a season long loan.
Amavi joined Aston Villa in July 2015 for a fee of £3.6m from Nice. In 48 appearances with Aston Villa, Amavi tallied four assists for the club.
Marseille
Since moving back to the south of France, Amavi has hit the ground running. Marseille made several moves during the offseason, and have started the Ligue 1 season well. The team are currently third in the competition.
Marseille have been so impressed with the 23-year-old defender, the club are now ready to strike a permanent deal for just under £9m. According to one website, Amavi is valued at £9m, and in today’s transfer climate, that would seem a great price for a young full-back.
Why did Jordan Amavi leave Aston Villa?
Amavi left Aston Villa in August due to the team’s acquisition of Neil Taylor. The new defender arrived from Swansea and was immediately instilled into the side. Taylor’s arrival meant Amavi was relegated to the bench.
