Chelsea’s David Luiz and Tiemoue Bakayoko are expected to missed the team’s match with Watford this weekend. Watford travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday and could be buoyed by the duo’s absence.
David Luiz
Luiz was withdrawn from Chelsea’s Wednesday night Champions League fixture with Roma. The Brazilian was paired with Bakayoko in Chelsea’s midfield. The two gave the side plenty of bite and Chelsea bossed the match early. Once taken off, Chelsea reverted to a 3-4-3, and the change allowed Roma to get back into the match. The game ended 3-3.
The defender suffered a knock to his calf, and is doubtful for the team’s match against the Hornets.
“[Luiz] has a little problem in his calf,” Conte said after the draw with Roma. “In this moment, I can’t risk my players, because we are playing always the same players, so it’s very difficult now to risk someone and to lose him for many times.”
Luiz scored Chelsea’s opener with a beautiful strike.
Tiemoue Bakayoko
Although Bakayoko finished the match, it was discovered he was suffering from a groin strain following the game. N’Golo Kante is also injured and will not play in Saturday’s match. Chelsea are winless in their last three games, and desperately need their key players fit.
