Former Manchester United player Ryan Giggs is interested in both the Leicester City and Everton managerial positions. Both clubs are looking for new managers after sacking their respective bosses, and Giggs hopes to land one of the two jobs.
Ryan Giggs hoping for first manager’s job
Giggs was Louis van Gaal’s assistant at Manchester United during the Dutchman’s time at Old Trafford. Since Van Gaal’s departure from the Red Devils, Giggs has been looking for his first position in the manager’s seat.
Who’s the bookies’ favourite?
According to Sky Bet, Giggs is not one of the top candidates for either manager’s position. Giggs is 22/1 to land the Everton position, while Sky Bet has him at 28/1 to get the Leicester manager’s job. David Unsworth is the favourite to get the Everton position currently. Meanwhile, Claude Puel is the top man to get the job at Leicester.
What did Ryan Giggs say?
“For me these are clubs I would be interested in,” Giggs told Sky Sports.
“I think you look at those two teams, Leicester being champions two seasons ago, Everton being a fantastic club with a fantastic history.
“However, there are a lot of coaches out there who would be interested in those positions.”
Giggs is currently taking some time away from football, but wants to get into management fully.
“I’ve said all along that I’d be open to clubs which share the ambitions of myself,” he said.
“I want to improve clubs and improve players, to enjoy working for them and for players to enjoy the challenge.
“There are clubs in the Premier League which would be good jobs but also in the Championship and League One.
“It’s more about the philosophy for me than the stature of the club.”
