In a sensational about turn, MSN.com reports that Barcelona’s attention is turning to Antoine Griezmann and no longer Liverpool Brazilian playmaker Phillipe Coutinho.
Griezmann has been the subject of plenty of transfer speculation himself, with rumours aplenty that he is in line to join Manchester United when he finally looks to leave Atletico Madrid….but, despite not having the best of starts in La Liga this season, Barcelona are making him their number one transfer target, having been continually rebuffed by Liverpool over the summer – and who appear to be resolute in standing firm again in January in keeping hold of Coutinho.
Barcelona are keen to spend their Neymar cash – although they have made a blistering start to their new season – already four points clear atop their domestic Division with 9 wins in 10 games, and having a 100% record in their Champions League group.
However, they are concerned on their current reliance on Lionel Messi, with Luis Suarez only notching three goals so far this season, and Ousmane Dembele injured with a ruptured tendon and expected to be out until well after the New Year.
Griezmann is an undoubted class act that would slot beautifully into the free flowing Barca style of football….but Liverpool fans wont care a jot about who is slamming the goals in for Barcelona….as long as Coutinho shows all the form and class that made the Catalan giants so desperate to sign him in the first place and helps Liverpool secure a top four slot again this season.
