Chelsea manager Antonio Conte happy with come from behind victory over Newcastle

Chelsea came from a goal down to defeat Newcastle, 3-1, in Saturday’s Premier League lunchtime kickoff. Newcastle’s Dwight Gayle opened the scoring in the 12th minute. However, the Blues scored three goals unanswered. Eden Hazard scored twice and Alvaro Morata added another goal.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was happy with Chelsea’s performance and praised his squad following the win.

“A good performance overall,” Conte said. “I am very happy for this. It is not simple to go 1-0 down and have the right will and desire.”

Chelsea’s win moved the team into third place in the Premier League. The club are now eight points behind Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side won’t play until Sunday, however.

Conte was very happy with star man Hazard’s play during the team’s win over the Magpies. However, he was also full of praise for the rest of his side.

“We can change our system,” Conte said. “We can play Hazard as a second striker. We can play him as a No. 10 when we play 3-4-3. Today, Eden and Alvaro showed a good link.”

Chelsea will face off with West Ham next weekend in the Premier League.
