Everton host Chelsea on Saturday in a big Premier League clash. The Toffees are unbeaten in their last five Premier League matches. The side has shaken off the poor form they experienced pre-Sam Allardyce. Now, the team go into Saturday’s fixture with Chelsea with a chance to move into eighth place. It is a massive game for the Toffees, and that is why Everton forward Wayne Rooney should be in your team for gameweek 19.
Everton forward Rooney enters Saturday’s match at Goodison Park having scored 10 goals this term. Not many would have thought Rooney had the ability to lead the team in goals this season, but he has turned back the clock in Everton blue.
Rooney has scored or assisted a goal in each of Everton’s last five Premier League matches. His play suits Allardyce’s style, and Everton will be much harder to beat on Saturday than when Ronald Koeman was in charge.
Rooney’s play under Allardyce has improved greatly. The Englishman has tallied more goals after Allardyce’s arrival than when Koeman was in charge (six to four). The tactics have helped Rooney greatly along with Allardyce’s man management. However, it must be remembered Rooney’s slump under Koeman came following his drink driving arrest.
Six of Rooney’s 10 Premier League goals have come in the last five games. He is in some of the best form of his career in recent years. Rooney has accumulated 91 points in Fantasy Premier League and is a bargain buy, currently. The Everton forward is just £7.6, which is great price for anyone trading in a lame player for gameweek 19.
Since Rooney started his current run of form he has tallied 15, 5, 8, 8 and 13 points over the last five matchdays, respectively.
Following the team’s clash with Chelsea, Everton will play West Brom and Bournemouth, and Rooney has the potential to continue his current form against all three.
Rooney has been deployed behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin of late. It has allowed him to create goals, score goals and link the midfield with Calvert-Lewin at the top of the formation.
Rooney is scoring points and is a great buy, so FPL managers need him this gameweek.
