Harry Kane is set to become the highest paid Englishmen in the Premier League. The striker is expected to be offered a new and improved Tottenham contract that will see him earn £200,000-a-week.
Currently, Kane is 35th on the list of highest earners in the Premier League. The Striker earns £110,000-a-week, but will see that figure almost double when he signs his new Spurs’ deal. His current £5.7 million a year deal is thought to be a figure Real Madrid and Manchester United can top; therefore, the club believe he will stay in North London with a new £10.4m a season Tottenham contract.
If Kane signs the new Tottenham contract that is being reported by the Daily Mail, he will rise above Raheem Sterling as the highest paid Englishmen in the league. Sterling currently makes £180,000-a-week for Manchester City.
According to many football insiders, Kane’s performances and his salary are no equal. Kane has won the league’s Golden Boot award two years running, and currently leads the Premier League in goals this term with 18.
Kane’s current Tottenham contract runs until 2022. When he signed the deal in 2016, it made him the top earner at the North London club. That figure is reportedly the same now as goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
During the summer transfer window, Tottenham full-back Danny Rose complained about the wages being paid at the club compared to other top teams in the Premier League. It is one of the reasons cited for Kyle Walker’s desire to leave for Manchester City and Rose has also been linked with a move away.
To keep Kane away from clubs such as Real Madrid and Manchester United, Tottenham will need to sweeten the pay packet for Kane. However, Spurs may have to do the same to their other stars to keep them from leaving the club as well.
