FPL sensation admits a move to Liverpool would be a dream come true

In what has been a turbulent season for his current club, Watford FC, there is little doubt that Abdoulaye Doucoure has been a revelation to the Premier League this season – and he has drawn admiring glances from many bigger clubs than where he plies his trade currently. But in a recent interview to French broadcaster Canal Plus, Doucoure makes it clear where his dreams lie – and fans of Liverpool FC will be loving the answer.

Doucoure is quoted as saying “Liverpool is a club that needs no introduction. I was impatient to play there at Anfield, I wanted to feel the atmosphere. For me it would be a dream to play in a club like this.”

Part of the attraction is his desire to play at Europe’s footballing top table – the Champions League – and with Liverpool heavily involved in this season’s competition, and set fair for a place in next years tournament also, Doucoure goes on to suggest this is on his own personal radar :

“If there is an offer, we will discuss to find the best solution. Everyone wants to play in the Champions League, the big competitions.”

Doucoure has burst onto the Premier League scene relatively unannounced, after securing an £8 million move to Watford from French outfit Rennes in 2016. But it has been this season where he has alerted the Premier League heavyweights, where his form for Watford has been outstanding and – from an FPL perspective – he has been one of the seasons best buys – accruing 121 points to date and seeing the number of FPL managers selecting him grow from just 1207 in week one, where Watford gleaned a 3-3 draw with Liverpool. to over 900,000 by the time the teams faced each other again recently at Anfield.

7 goals and 3 assists on the season in an inconsistent Watford side would clearly grow into a very healthy return in a stronger Liverpool side, and he could just be the kind of player that Jurgen Klopp would like to have in his midfield corps. It seems clear that should Liverpool come knocking at Doucoure’s door, he would gladly answer.
