James Maddison has started the Premier League season red-hot. The Leicester City midfielder has registered three goals and an assist in six matches. Maddison is currently 11th in points in Fantasy Premier League and will only set back managers £6.8 million. Leicester have a winnable set of matches upcoming and Maddison is a great addition to any team based on his current form.
James Maddison offers consistency
At just 21, Maddison offers Leicester plenty of upside for the next few Premier League seasons. His production has led many Leicester supporters to forget about former player Riyad Mahrez.
Mahrez may have scored two goals, but both came against the Premier League’s worst team, Cardiff. Mahrez has 18 FPL points, and 12 of those came against the Bluebirds. Overall, Mahrez has struggled to adapt to life at Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Maddison has posted consistent points in his last three matches against Liverpool (5), Bournemouth (8), and Huddersfield (8). Maddison is coming off of Leicester’s win against both the Cherries and Terriers in which he tallied goals in both.
Maddison averages one goal per 160 minutes on the pitch.
According to recent reports, Maddison is the “talk of the opposing dressing room”. Teams and managers are all praising the former Norwich player as well as trying to figure out how to stop him. It shouldn’t be long before Maddison is called into the England senior team camp. Maddison has already been called England’s answer to their creativity problems.
James Maddison and Leicester with winnable games
Leicester face Newcastle and Everton in consecutive matches. Newcastle are still searching for their first win and sit third from bottom in the Premier League. The Magpies don’t give up a lot of goals, just eight, which is the lowest number of the teams 12th place or lower.

Everton have been struggling ever since their 2-1 win over Southampton in gameweek 2. Suspensions and injuries have decimated Marco Silva’s squad. Everton have lost two straight matches and conceded 11 goals in all.
Leicester will benefit from both Newcastle and Everton’s poor form. Maddison will be in charge of unlocking both teams’ defences and he could register big back to back weekends.
Arsenal are to follow Everton’s visit to the King Power Stadium. The Gunners’ improved form over the last few weeks hasn’t gone unnoticed. Leicester will have a difficult task on their travels to the Emirates. It will be Maddison’s opportunity to show a bigger stage he is one of the Premier League’s best up and coming players. No disrespect to Bournemouth nor Huddersfield, but Maddison will need to show his worth against the Premier League’s biggest clubs to further his career.
James Maddison’s start has many FPL managers swooning over him. Over 160,000 FPL managers have selected Maddison for their teams gameweek 7. Will you add the Leicester playmaker too?
