Mohamed Salah’s gameweek 16 hat-trick against Bournemouth has pulled him near his 2017-18 scoring rate after 16 matches. The Liverpool forward has 10 goals in 16 matches just three short of last year’s total at the same time. Salah tallied 13 goals in his first 16 matches a season ago.
The Liverpool forward’s 21 point match has him atop the Fantasy Premier League scoring charts. It was Salah’s best FPL gameweek return since gameweek 10 against Cardiff City. It was also just the second time he had recorded double-digit points.
Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah’s career has sky-rocketed. He has scored 56 goals in 74 Premier League games with the Reds. Seven of Salah’s goals have come from his left foot while the other three have come right footed.
Last season, Salah had six multi-goal scoring games. Salah started the Premier League season slowly as he was most likely still feeling the after-effects of the shoulder injury he suffered against Real Madrid in the Champions League. Saturday’s 52-minute hat-trick was Salah’s first multi-goal game of the season.
The forward is priced at £13 million in FPL. It is a price Salah has been at for most of the season although he decreased slightly to £12.9m and £12.8m for a four week period.
Salah has his work cut out for him in gameweek 17 against Manchester United. Liverpool may be in form and scoring goals for fun in their last two matches, however, Jose Mourinho has found ways to stifle Liverpool defensively in the Premier League.
Games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle will follow before major tests against Arsenal and Manchester City in back to back gameweeks. If Salah can stay hot, Liverpool can win their matches and remain at the top of the Premier League.
Will Mohamed Salah top the FPL points chart this season?
