West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic heads into Fantasy Premier League gameweek 38 with a hot hand. The striker has tallied 111 FPL points this season with a brilliant 18 coming in his last two gameweeks.
Aranutovic scored 13 points last weekend against Southampton. Manuel Pellegrini’s Hammers battered the Saints 3-0 at the London Stadium.
Marko Arnautovic – FPL decline
There is no doubt Arnautovic’s FPL production has declined this season. Last term, he tallied 144 points thanks to 11 goals and seven assists. This season has seen the Austrian score nine times while adding five assists.
His performances haven’t been helped by injury nor personal issues that saw him attempt to leave in the winter transfer window. Although Arnautovic has popped up with goals and FPL points, he has been inconsistent.
Between gameweek 29 and gameweek 35, Arnautovic averaged just 1.4 points per game. Yet, his sudden outburst of 18 points over two gameweeks has him as a top player to add for the season finale.
Marko Arnautovic – Sudden improvement
There may not be a real secret behind Arnautovic’s sudden improvement. With the season wrapping up on Sunday, it is believed he will leave in the offseason.
His improved performances could be due to a desire to leave the club. Premier League pundit Phil Thompson believes Arnautovic is headed out the door. It would be a blow to West Ham if he does leave, but the club still seem to lack an identity that his departure may help them find.
West Ham play Watford on Sunday at Vicarage Road. The Hornets have failed to show up for most games since qualifying for the FA Cup Final on May 18th. West Ham should be able to have their way with Watford and avenge their December loss.
Arnautovic did not feature in the teams’ previous meeting. His presence could lead to a West Ham win this time around.
