Norwich City’s Teemu Pukki opened his account against Liverpool in Premier League gameweek 1. The striker’s second-half goal gave Norwich City a consolation prize despite losing 4-1.
Pukki could be a bargain buy for gameweek 2 thanks to his £6.5 million price tag. The Finnish hitman scored seven Fantasy Premier League points last weekend. While it wasn’t good enough to get him into the team of the week, Pukki played well.
His performance against Liverpool and seven FPL points led over 163,000 FPL managers transferring him into their teams.
Teemu Pukki professional goalscorer
Pukki scored 29 goals in 43 matches last season in the EFL Championship. He added 10 assists as the Canaries gain automatic promotion.
If there was one thing we learned about Norwich City in gameweek 1, it was they will not go down without a fight. Norwich City got beaten 4-1 but were not afraid to attack one of the Premier League’s best teams.
Norwich City will host Newcastle United at the weekend. The Magpies allowed a goal in a 1-0 loss to Arsenal in gameweek 1. They were solid defensively, however, their attack was unable to breakdown the Gunners. The Canaries should play on the front foot once more and attack Newcastle United from the start.
Norwich City are unbeaten in their last seven matches against Newcastle United at Carrow Road. Daniel Farke’s team has only won three of those seven matches, however.
The last time the two teams met was in 2017 in the EFL Championship. Pukki was not yet a Norwich City player at the time.
Teemu Pukki could see transfer price rise
Teemu Pukki has played for eight different clubs during his career. His single-season goals tally for Norwich City last season (29 EFL Championship goals) was his best. The striker scored one goal every 132 minutes and only received two yellow cards.
The only problem with drafting in Pukki for gameweek 2 is Norwich City’s upcoming fixture list. Chelsea, West Ham, and Manchester City are up in the coming weeks. The West Ham fixture in gameweek 4 shouldn’t be a worry, and in all honesty, gameweek 3 against Chelsea may not be an issue either.
At £6.5m, Pukki could be the buy of the week. Although Pukki hasn’t had an FPL price rise, don’t be surprised to see one if he scores again this week.
