Gameweek 30 sees the Merseyside Derby highlight the English Premier League fixtures list. But that’s not the only big game as Manchester City travel to the Emirates to take on Arsenal. Getting the right forwards into your daily fantasy sports team and FPL squads should make all the difference this gameweek.
So, who do we have in our top 5?
Romelu Lukaku – Everton
Games: 28; Goals: 21; Total FPL points: 182
How can you not get Romelu Lukaku in your team? Even with the derby this weekend, the Belgian is well worth a slot in your FPL and daily fantasy sports team. We told managers to draft him for gameweek 29, and what did he do? He only scored 16 points.
Lukaku has scored nine goals in his last six games. He is hot and you need him.
Benik Afobe – Bournemouth
Games: 24; Goals: 4; Total FPL points: 62
This is an EPL and daily fantasy sports team draft on potential rather than on what he has done to this point in the season. Benik Afobe hasn’t set the world a light, but there is no time like the present.
Gameweek 29 saw the forward tally 12 points, his first double digit outing this season. He has only played the full 90 minutes four times in 2016-17, so beware. The good news is, Afobe is in form and the way Bournemouth played last time out should encourage managers. The Cherries are unbeaten in their last three matches.
Jamie Vardy – Leicester City
Games: 25; Goals: 8; Total FPL points: 99
For all of you that believed Jamie Vardy’s 24 goal EPL season a year ago was a fluke, you’ve been proven right for the most part. Vardy has gone long stretches this season without goals, and five of his eight were scored in just two games.
That said, the Englishman tallied 11 points in gameweek 29, and in his last three matches, the forward has averaged 9.7 points. Leicester play a Stoke team that have under performed all season. Vardy should do well against the team’s defence, which has given up 42 goals this term.
Andy Carroll – West Ham
Games: 15; Goals: 6; Total FPL points: 56
Let’s call it potential, but Andy Carroll is a promising draft for you FPL and daily fantasy sports team. A modest five point return in gameweek 29 is partly behind our selection of the big man. West Ham play Hull, who have given up the second most goals in the Premier League this season (58).
Jermain Defoe – Sunderland
Games: 28; Goals: 14; Total FPL points: 144
It has been a few gameweeks since Jermain Defoe got on the scoring sheet. But Harry Kane, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Diego Costa are either injured or unlikely to play a big part this gameweek.
Defoe makes the side by default. But that’s okay as Sunderland take on Watford. The Hornets have given up the sixth most goals this season (48), and this is the week Sunderland really begin their charge for Premier League survival.
