Dani Alves to deliver Premier League shock

Dani Alves is set to turn his back on the English Premier League and join top French club Paris Saint-Germain.

Alves, 34, had been widely expected to join ex-Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, after returning from his Brazilian holiday,  but it now looks certain that he will join big spending PSG, whom have lined up a press conference later today and are expected to confirm the capture of the veteran full back.

In the final stages of his career, it seems that Alves could not resist the £240,000 per week on offer from PSG – more than double the £115,000 that Manchester City were prepared to pay. PSG are also offering Alves a two year deal, which has left City boss Guardiola furious at missing out on his man, seemingly unaware of the French interest until the last minute.

With Dani Alves now seemingly out of the picture, Guardiola will look again at Kyle Walker from Tottenham, and will be determined not to miss out this time, as he is very much in need of a right sided full back to replace Pablo Zabaleta, who left on a free transfer to join West Ham United. However, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has slapped a £50 million price tag on Walker, which is in excess of City’s valuation of the player.

Guardiola is hoping for better news from Monaco though, as they close in on finalising the £40 million deal for left back Benjamin Mendy. City leave for their own tour of the United States soon and will want to him on board before the plane leaves Manchester.
