Manchester United have been put on red alert with the news that Robert Lewandowski is becoming unsettled at Bayern Munich and may look for a move away from the Bundesliga giants.
Lewandowski has been openly critical of Bayern’s transfer policy, where he feels the Club are not adding enough top class quality as they look to again become kings of Europe by winning the Champions League.
He was quoted as saying to Der Spiegel: “Bayern has to come up with something new and creative, if the club wants to keep luring world class players to Munich.”
“And if you want to keep up at the very highest level, you need these players’ quality.”
It hasn’t helped the situation that many players Munich have brought in are attackers, including Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez, making Lewandowski question the security of his own place in the starting Munich XI.
Lewandowski is still only 29 but is considered one of the best players in his position in world football. He would command a huge transfer fee, but that would not put off Manchester United, who would move heaven and earth to land him, despite having paid £73 million for Romelu Lukaku, who has made a promising start at United.
They would of course face stiff competition – most notably from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea – all of whom would have the financial power to match whatever asking price Munich would place on his head. But there is no doubting the attractiveness of playing for Manchester United, one of, if not the, most popular clubs in Lewandowski’s native country of Poland.
Seeing Lewandowski in the Premier League is a fantastic proposition….we would imagine Old Trafford to be the perfect destination for him to display his supreme striking talents.
