Arsenal star Olivier Giroud has been linked with a January transfer to Everton. Giroud has not started a Premier League game this term for Arenal, and rumours are gathering that Everton will tempt the Gunners in the next transfer window for the striker.
Giroud has played in all six Premier League matches for the Gunners this term, but all six appearances have come from the bench. The Frenchman has fallen down the pecking order with the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette and the rise of Danny Welbeck. The latter has been Arsene Wenger’s preferred striker to partner with Lacazette.
Arsenal had told Giroud he could leave the club during the summer transfer window, and it looked likely that Giroud would sign with West Ham. He was also linked with a move back to France with Marseille and later Lyon. No move every materialised for the Arsenal star, and like others, remained at the Emirates after the window closed.
Everton are now 14th in the Premier League after a win at the weekend over Bournemouth. The Toffees have scored just four goals in six matches, and are in desperate need of finding goals. Wayne Rooney and Oumar Niasse have scored two goals apiece for Everton. Meanwhile, new signing Sandro Ramirez hasn’t got off the mark yet. He has played in four of the team’s games this term.
Giroud would give Everton a different option up top. A move to Everton would also give Giroud the chance to impress ahead of the World Cup in June 2018.
