Arsenal transfer news
The Gunners are set to make Borussia Dortmund centre-back Sokratis Papstathopoulos their first signing of the transfer window. According to the Metro, Arsenal will play Dortmund £17 million for the Greek international.
Arsenal gave up 51 Premier League goals during the season. It was the club’s most goals conceded since 1983-84. The club has made defence its priority this term. Arsenal had already been linked with Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly. However, the Italians have placed a £105m price tag on the centre-back. Sokratis offers the Gunners are cheaper, proven option.
Sokratis has played in 130 matches for Dortmund since arriving Werder Bremen in 2013. Dortmund are expected to replace him with Mainz’s Abdou Diallo.
