Mohamed Salah has signed a new five-year Liverpool contract. The announcement has put to bed rumours of Salah leaving Liverpool this summer as the player has agreed to a sizeable increase in salary. Salah’s new contract will keep him at Anfield until 2023.
Salah signs new five-year Liverpool contract
Salah tallied 44 goals in 52 matches for Liverpool in 2017-18. His tremendous attacking play led the side to the Champions League final where Liverpool ultimately lost following Salah’s match-ending shoulder injury. Only 26, Salah’s new contract will see him finish the rest of his prime years in a Reds’ shirt.
The new contract does not include a transfer release clause. Transfermarkt.co.uk lists Salah’s current market value at £135 million. The lack of a release clause will prevent clubs from raiding Liverpool in attempts to sign Salah.
Following the Liverpool contract announcement, manager Jurgen Klopp expressed his delight over the new deal.
“It demonstrates two things very clearly – his belief in Liverpool and our belief in him,” Klopp said.
“This news can be seen for what it is; rewarding a person who performed and contributed greatly for the team and the club last season.
“We want world-class talent to see they have a home at Anfield where they can fulfil all their professional dreams and ambitions – we are working hard together to achieve this.
“When someone like Mo Salah commits and says this place is my home now, it speaks very loudly I think.
“Equally, our commitment to him says we see his value and want him to grow even more and get even better within our environment.”
According to the Express and Star, Salah’s new contract will see him earn £200,000-per-week. Salah’s original Liverpool contract was for £120,000-a-week and was set to expire in 2022. The new deal gives the Reds one more year on the Egyptian while paying him a further £80,000-per-week.
Salah is by far Liverpool’s biggest earner with centre-back Virgil van Dijk coming second at £150,000-per-week.
Liverpool fans took to Twitter to express their joy over Salah’s new Liverpool contract following the announcement.

That’s loyalty. That’s someone who sees a club going somewhere. That’s a player who trusts the manager. That’s a player who doesn’t stab the club in the back. That’s the best Egyptian to grace the game.
That’s Mohamed Salah.

Mohamed Salah is 26, the fact we will now be able to see him at Anfield during his peak years is a frightening but wonderful thought.

Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah have both now signed long-term deals at the club. Retaining the both of them is huge and indication in itself that this team is on the up. Mané next?

Mohamed Salah signing a 5 year shows how much he loves the club, the love of our fans and the football which suited his style of play. For him to sign shows his intentions that he wants to spend his best years at the club, seeing our ambitions and to win a trophy next season.
