The latest Celtic news isn’t good for supporters hoping to see Scott Sinclair shine at Parkhead this term. The English winger has recently stated he ‘doesn’t fit in’ with Brendan Rodgers’ new tactics at Celtic. The manager has changed his formation from 4-2-3-1 into a three-man backline with wing-backs. The change has altered Sinclair’s role and his opportunities could become limited with Celtic this term.
Celtic news: Scott Sinclair
Sinclair joined Celtic in 2016 and has been one of the club’s top performers since arriving. He tallied 21 goals and eight assists in 35 matches in his first season in Scotland. However, Sinclair did have a large goal scoring drop off a season ago. He tallied just nine goals in 30 Scottish Premiership matches. The winger was able to show his creative side once more by setting up 10 goals.
Speaking to the Scottish Sun, Sinclair outlined Rodgers’ current tactical plan.
“At the moment the manager has gone for wing-backs in a different formation,” Sinclair said.
“He’s playing with no wingers. But all I can do is continue to work hard in training and try to get into the team.”
Celtic have played just one competitive match this term. It was a 3-0 win over Armenia’s Alashkert in the Champions League first qualifying round. Sinclair played in Celtic’s match against Alashkerts, but only as a second-half substitute. The winger came on in the 68th minute for Moussa Dembele.
Previously, Sinclair had been one of Rodgers’ preferred players. The manager had coached Sinclair at Swansea. Both coach and player also spent time together in Chelsea’s academy.
The 29-year-old has a contract with Celtic until 2020.

According to a tweet accompanied by a Rodgers’ quote posted on July 8 by @PhotoCeltic, the manager stated: “Scott has come back super hungry and as the Scott Sinclair I knew from Chelsea” Rodgers said.
It is believed based on Sinclair’s past play and relationship with Rodgers that he will fight his way back into the manager’s plans.
