Fantasy Premier League managers selected Liverpool’s Sadio Mane in droves for the team’s game against Fulham. However, the Senegalese winger returned just three FPL points. It was a disappointing return for a player that had just two gameweeks prior accumulated 15 points. With an international break taking place this week, FPL managers will question whether Mane is worth a place in their teams for gameweek 13.
Should Liverpool’s Sadio Mane be dropped?
Despite critics bemoaning Liverpool’s lack of scoring, Mane is just four goals off of his 2017-18 Premier League total. The forward has collected six goals. Four of those strikes have come in two games. Mane has registered four double-digit FPL gameweeks.
While Mane has tallied goals this season, he is yet to record an assist. Last season, Mane created eight Premier League goals. Liverpool’s finishing in the final third, most notably Roberto Firmino, has prevented Mane’s assist total from improving.
Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold have become FPL bargains. The duo had a fantastic game against Fulham and made the FPL team of the week.
Mane will set FPL managers back £9.9 million, but his potential to score double-digits is one of the reasons to select him every week.
What could be affecting Sadio Mane’s play?
Mane hasn’t been in the form he showed last term. But it seems some have forgotten Mane’s Premier League goals decreased last term from 13 in 2016-17 to 10 in 2017-18.
The forward played a major part in Liverpool’s run to the Champions League Final and then went on to play at the World Cup. Fatigue is a factor with the entire Liverpool side. In October, Mane broke his thumb on international duty and had surgery to repair the damage. Several issues are combining to cause a dip in form currently, but Mane’s past play warrants his inclusion.
Is Sadio Mane in a poor run of form or will his current play continue?
