Red Devils receive player boost ahead of FA Cup clash
Solskjaer announced forward Alexis Sanchez will be in the team to face Arsenal. The forward joined Manchester United last January from Arsenal and has since experienced a downturn in his career.
Sanchez has appeared in 13 games in all competitions this season notching just one goal and three assists.
According to Solskjaer, Sanchez has been “fantastic in training” in recent days.
Manchester United will also have Luke Shaw back from illness. He missed the Red Devils’ win over Brighton at the weekend but should play some part against the Gunners on Friday night.
Centre-back Chris Smalling is also in contention for a starting position after re-joining training following an injury.
Solskjaer will be without defender Marcos Rojo and midfielder Marouane Fellaini due to injury.
Arsenal injury report
Arsenal will be without full-back Hector Bellerin. The defender suffered a ruptured ACL injury against Chelsea in the league and will now miss nine months of action.
Manager Unai Emery is expected to select Nacho Monreal in Bellerin’s place against Manchester United.
Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck are also out for the FA Cup clash. The duo is set to miss the remainder of the 2018-19 season.
Holding injured his ACL against Manchester United back in December. Meanwhile, Welbeck broke his ankle in November.
Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has refused to release transfer funds to Emery despite the club suffering three major injuries to key players.
