Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has failed to score against the Premier League’s top-six this term. That hasn’t stopped the Belgian from tallying 12 goals and 104 Fantasy Premier League points.
Manchester United striker has failed to score against top 6 this term
Lukaku struck the back of the net twice against Southampton on Saturday. It was his second straight week in which he scored two goals in a game.
The Belgian tallied twice against Crystal Palace in gameweek 28 before doing it once more for gameweek 29. Lukaku bagged back to back 12 point FPL gameweeks.
It gameweek 29 was just Lukaku’s third double-digit points return of the season.
The Manchester United striker had his best FPL season in 2016-17 when he tallied 221 FPL points while playing at Everton. Lukaku had a career-high 25 goals that term.
Lukaku is priced at £10.7 million currently.
Manchester United striker can still turn around reputation
Lukaku has gained a reputation as a flat-track bully in the Premier League. His goals have come against Brighton, Burnley, Watford, Southampton, Fulham, Bournemouth, Newcastle, and Crystal Palace.
The striker’s best performance against a top-six team was versus Manchester City. Lukaku tallied four points in 33 minutes of play thanks to an assist.
Manchester United will face off against Arsenal in gameweek 30. Lukaku played just 27 minutes against the Gunners in gameweek 15 tallying one point.
However, Lukaku’s play against Arsenal in the FA Cup was far more promising. If he can repeat his FA Cup play in gameweek 30, then perhaps he will score his first goal of the season against the top-six.
Could Manchester United striker leave Old Trafford?
Reports in early March indicated Manchester United were interested in swapping Lukaku for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi.
The Inter forward has had issues with the club over a new contract and having the captaincy taken away from him.
If manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can get the best out of Lukaku against the Premier League’s top teams, there will be no need to move him on.
