Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero made his long-awaited return to the Premier League last weekend versus Leicester City. Aguero missed seven matches in all competitions with a muscle injury giving teammate Gabriel Jesus the chance to lead the attack on his own.
While Aguero returned to the Manchester City team last weekend, he only played one minute of the fixture. Aguero should see more match time in gameweek 19. Manager Pep Guardiola may even be influenced to give Aguero the starting spot in the team’s attack and allow Jesus the chance to rest.
The striker hasn’t played since gameweek 13 when he tallied two Fantasy Premier League points versus Chelsea. Aguero’s FPL points had dipped before the muscle injury occurred. After hitting nine points versus Watford in gameweek 6, Aguero averaged just 2.4 FPL points per gameweek until his injury.
Manchester City have a run of winnable matches upcoming and if Liverpool slip up versus Leicester City, they can reel in the league leaders. Manchester City will play Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sheffield United, Everton, and Aston Villa in the next four gameweeks.
Aguero has the chance to increase his 73 FPL points. Aguero is high-priced at £11.7 million. It is a big price for managers, but if you are looking for a quick surge of points, Aguero may be the man to do it in gameweek 19.
The striker has bagged nine goals in 13 matches this term. He could add to the tally against a Wolverhampton Wanderers team that has now played 32 matches in all competitions. No Premier League team has played more matches in 2019-20 than Wolves.
Is Sergio Aguero set to leave Manchester City next summer?
Aguero’s numbers look impressive but after starting the league season with eight goals in his first six games, he cooled down prior to the injury. Since that hot start, Aguero has scored just one goal in seven matches.
Now 31, Aguero has just 18 months left on his current Manchester City contract. He signed an extension in the Autumn of 2019. With Manchester City behind Liverpool in the title race currently, they could look to add new blood to the attack next season. Outside of Aguero and Jesus, Manchester City lack centre-forwards.
In November, it was reported that Aguero “may leave” next summer. It is a move that could happen as Guardiola looks to refresh an ageing squad.
Can Sergio Aguero bag FPL points this weekend versus Wolves? Certainly. Manchester City lost earlier this season versus Nuno Espirito Santo’s team. This time, they won’t take the Midlands club so lightly.
