Can Italian striker strengthen United up front?

Manchester United are still searching for a new striker after the news that Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann will be staying in the Spanish capital. The team had turned their attention to Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, but are now looking into the signature of Italian international Andrea Belotti.

The 23-year-old Italian scored a career high 23 goals in Serie A last season for Torino and is expected to leave the Olimpico Stadium this summer.

The striker had been linked to Arsenal as well as Serie A’s AC Milan; but it looks like Manchester United are in prime position to bring Belotti to Old Trafford.

Despite scoring the third most goals in Serie A during the season, Torino had a very disappointing year, and it looks like the club will allow the striker to depart. Belotti is valued at £25.50 million, but in the current market will fetch Torino more. The Turin-based club are reportedly asking for £86m for Belotti. Serie A giants AC Milan had enquired about Belotti’s availability, but are said to be out of the running as the club attempt to swamp M’baye Niang and Juraj Kucka, plus cash for the goal scorer.

Andrea Belotti Key Stats 2016-17:
