Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho may have signed a new Liverpool contract last January, but the Brazilian is still being linked to Spanish giants Barcelona with a transfer this summer.
In May, Spanish media claimed Coutinho had agreed a deal with Barcelona that would see him join the Catalans in the summer. However, little has come out of Camp Nou or Anfield following the claim, and Liverpool are preparing for next season with the former Inter Milan man in tow.
Coutinho’s Liverpool contract does not contain a buy-out clause, which gives Liverpool more power than they had when Luis Suarez was sold to Barcelona in 2014.
Liverpool have been linked with a number of players already this season including Roma’s Mohamed Salah and Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez. Yet, nothing has come of either deal as the Reds look to bring in new players for next season.
Coutinho is on international duty with Brazil currently, and hasn’t ruled out a move to Barcelona in interviews.
“Talking about this is complicated,” Coutinho said. “I have a contract with my club and it is long.
“So my focus is on the present and the national team. My focus is here.”
