Chelsea to Buy Romelu Lukaku from Everton

Despite previous reports of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku moving to German giants Bayern Munich, it looks like Chelsea will re-sign the Belgian international.

Lukaku is Chelsea’s primary target this transfer window and is expected to replace the outgoing Diego Costa. The striker is currently valued at £43 million, but with the current transfer climate, should fetch Everton far more. It is expected that Chelsea could spend around £80m to land Lukaku.

Lukaku’s current Everton deal doesn’t expire until the summer of 2019, but he has made no secret of his desire to leave Goodison Park this transfer window.

The attacker initially joined Everton from Chelsea on a one-year loan deal that cost the Toffees nearly £3m. The following summer, the Merseyside outfit made the deal permanent, paying Chelsea a further £30m for the Belgian.

Since moving to Everton, Lukaku has netted 87 goals in 166 matches; and has also added 29 assists. Although he is an extremely important player for Ronald Koeman’s Everton, the Toffees have already begun strengthening their side this summer. Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has arrived from Sunderland along with Ajax midfielder Davy Klaassen. The club have also purchased striker Sandro Ramirez from Malaga, and are still in the market for Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Everton could be ready to splash the Lukaku cash as soon as he departs and reports indicate Celtics’ Moussa Dembele could be his replacement.

While a return to Chelsea is expected, Manchester United haven’t given up on possibly signing the Belgian. Like Chelsea, the Red Devils are in need of upgrading their attack after the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
