Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud is a surprise target of West Ham as the Gunners star looks more and more likely to leave the Emirates this summer.
The Frenchman has been linked with moves to Marseille and Lyon, but West Ham are reportedly keen to bring the 30-year-old to the east side of London. The striker’s contract with Arsenal does not expire until the summer of 2019, however.
Despite missing 10 games due to injury last season and only starting 11 Premier League matches, Giroud still scored 12 goals for Arsenal. He added a further three goals in six Champions League fixtures. While Giroud has been highly criticised during his time with Arsenal, the Frenchman has been incredibly potent as a goal scorer. In 226 games for Arsenal, the striker has tallied 98 goals.
Giroud joined Arsenal in 2012 after helping lead French team Montpellier to a shock Ligue 1 title. That season saw the player score 21 times in 36 fixtures.
Arsene Wenger is looking for fresh firepower to propel the Gunners back into the Premier League top four. The Arsenal manager is trying to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette. However, Arsenal’s transfer attempts for the Frenchman and other players have proven futile to this point.
Giroud has won three FA Cups during his time at Arsenal, in 2013-14 and 2015-16, Giroud led the Gunners in Premier League goals.
