Alexis Sanchez Manchester City Transfer Edges Closer

Alexis Sanchez Manchester City move edges closer as the player has reportedly informed Arsenal that he wants to leave the club.

Speculation has been rife that the Chilean would leave the club this summer, but speculation was that he could end up at Bayern Munich. However, Pep Guardiola and Manchester City look to have got another one over on Arsene Wenger’s team by luring another highly valued player away from the Emirates.

El Mercurcio claimed that the Sanchez Manchester City transfer deal is worth £47 million and it is a matter of days before it is complete. Despite the fee and the player wanting out of Arsenal, Wenger has made it know he does not want to sell Sanchez. By not selling the Chilean, Wenger runs the risk of losing Sanchez on a free transfer next summer.

Speaking to El Mercurio, a source close to Sanchez spoke about the player’s desire to play in the Champions League next season.

“Not playing in the Champions League is a big deal for Alexis, he is motivated to participate and win it,” the source told El Mercurio.

“Alexis spoke to his teammates in Russia about the subject, he has spoken with his family as well. All of them came to the same conclusion – it is best for him to end his journey with Arsenal and join City.

“Alexis is not willing for that, for any reason, [to stay at Arsenal] his idea is to leave in this moment.”

Sanchez had been offered a £300,000-a-week contract at Arsenal (£15.6m), but reports indicate he will ask for £400,000-a-week to stay at the Emirates (£20.8m).

While Arsenal look likely to lose their leading scorer from last season, the club are expected to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco after already capturing Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon. Lemar is thought to be a ready-made replacement once the Sanchez Manchester City deal goes through.
