Alexis Sanchez staying at Arsenal for another year was something fans thought they wouldn’t see as the player’s transfer saga continues to take a twist nearly every day. However, after the player met with Arsene Wenger this week, it looks like he will be with the club for another season.
Sanchez is staying at Arsenal and has been told that a move to Manchester City or Chelsea will not happen this summer. The Chilean returned to the club from his summer break on Tuesday, and Arsene Wenger has already told him a transfer away from the Emirates will not happen.
Despite having just 12 months left on his Arsenal deal, Wenger does not want to sell Sanchez to a direct rival. Sanchez staying at Arsenal for another season will be met with plenty of optimism by supporters. Many were resigned to losing the Chilean ahead of the 2017-18 season.
Sanchez had been dreaming of a move to Manchester City to once again hook up with former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola. The two will have to wait another year, or at least until January, for a move to happen.
Sanchez will be allowed to walk away for free in a year’s time, unless Arsenal can come to terms with him over a new contract. According to reports from the Metro, Wenger could still be swayed into selling the attacking midfielder, but only to a team outside of England.
