According to the Tuesday morning edition of BBC Breakfast, Jose Mourinho will attempt to sign winger Gareth Bale from Real Madrid following the UEFA Super Cup. The morning show stated a Bale transfer bid will be made, if the player doesn’t start the match; as it will show Jose Mourinho Real Madrid do not have Bale in their plans for this season.
Manchester United have been linked with a Bale transfer bid all summer, and with Madrid still interested in signing Monaco’s teen sensation, Kylian Mbappe, Bale could be shown the exit to free up cash and play time.
On Monday, Sky Sports reported that Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane had refused to guarantee Bale the chance to stay for another season in the Spanish capital. His refusal has fuelled transfer speculation.
Bale has fought numerous injury and fitness problems since arriving at Madrid, but Zidane spoke about Bale’s happiness at the Santiago Bernabeu in his pre-Super Cup press conference.
“I think what’s important is that the player is feeling well,” Zidane said.
“On top of that, he’s had a lot of continuous training sessions with us and that’s what is the most important.
“At the end of last season it wasn’t easy for him, he was almost out for four months through injury but now he is very well, very concentrated, he trains with the team.
“What interests me and what is important for us is not what the coach said, it’s what we are going to do tomorrow. That is all.”
On the topic of Tuesday’s Super Cup match, Zidane spoke about the team’s concentration for the game.
“He will prepare his team tomorrow, I will prepare my team,” Zidane said.
“It’s the same thing with Cristiano [Ronaldo], we’ve also had stories there. I think that people seem to want to blow the story beyond proportion.
“We’re concentrated on what we’re doing and that’s what is really important.”
Bale arrived at Madrid in 2013 for £90 million. Since then, the Welshman has won three UEFA Champions League trophies, one La Liga title, one Copa del Rey and a FIFA Club World Cup trophy. Despite his successes, Bale has frequently missed games due to injury. Bale missed 29 matches in 2016-17 due to various injuries.
While a Bale transfer bid could be made this week, Manchester United are also tracking Tottenham’s Danny Rose as a defensive addition.
