Liverpool’s Coutinho set for new Barcelona transfer saga in January

Philippe Coutinho and Liverpool have put the Barcelona transfer saga that engulfed the player behind them. However, it looks like Barcelona have not. The Spanish side are ready to bid on the Liverpool player once more in January.

Barcelona transfer saga take 2

Sky Sports reports Barcelona are ready to spend £198 million on the Brazilian in the next transfer window.

“We are ready to sign Coutinho or any other player the technical staff request in the winter window,” Barcelona chief executive Oscar Grau said Wednesday

“We want to have the most competitive squad possible. The club will be sustainable, we don’t want losses. If that is the case, we will look for means to generate income.”

It was revealed over the summer that Lionel Messi would leave Nou Camp on a free transfer if the club didn’t sign “world-class players”. The team’s attempt to sign Coutinho, seems to be a move partly to keep Messi at the club. The Argentine is yet to sign his new Barcelona contract and will become a free agent in July 2018.

Barcelona are attempting to become the world’s highest earning sports club. The Catalan side believe Coutinho can help them achieve their aim both on and off the pitch.

“We’re presenting figures for this season which are the highest of any club in the world. No other teams, even in the NBA and NFL, reach these numbers. The club is on track to hit its target by 2021,” Grau stated.

Coutinho’s Barcelona transfer saga won’t die

Liverpool have played well this term with and without Coutinho. The team may entertain the Catalan club’s offers, but it seems unlikely Liverpool will cave in.

Barcelona, on the other hand, seem unable to take no for an answer. While teams from the Premier League have received bad reputations for their continued approaches for players, Barcelona have received a pass. It seems Barcelona will continue to approach Coutinho and unsettle him until the club get their way.
