Liverpool stars likely out of West Ham game

Just 48 hours ahead of Liverpool’s game with West Ham United, key players Georginio Wijnaldum and Phillipe Coutinho appear to be out of the game through injury, with a host of other players also carrying knocks.

Wijnaldum limped off against Maribor in Liverpool’s Champions League victory and it seems the blow to his ankle will be enough to keep him out of the game against the Hammers. Jordan Henderson replaced Wijnaldum – but the Dutch international had been in fine form for the Reds and will be a big miss.

Coutinho had already been declared out of Saturday’s match as Liverpool look to record back to back Premier League victories for the first time since late August and try to keep on the tails of not just run away leaders Manchester City, but the top four, especially with Chelsea squaring off against Manchester United.

The one bright spark concerning injuries has been the return to health, and form, of striker Daniel Sturridge. Sturridge returned to action with Liverpool against Huddersfield Town and came off the bench against Maribor – and scored in both games. Liverpool fans will hope that Sturridge can keep fit for a lengthy period, as his goals could well be needed to keep Liverpool in the Premier League title race and their Champions League campaign, especially with the injury list lengthening.
