Manchester City odds tumble on threat of record breaking season

Going through any footballing season at any level is a feat in itself – but to perform this in the modern day top flight of English football is almost impossible. But Manchester City find themselves on the cusp of greatness, even at this early stage of the season.

Only the Arsenal ‘invincibles’ of the 2003/04 season have gone through a Premier League season unbeaten and though many other teams have come close, with others going for long unbeaten spells across seasons, none have been able to achieve perfection.

The famous Manchester United triple winning side of 1998/99 lost three games in their Premier League campaign, and Chelsea, who hold the record for the most points achieved in any single Premier League season, accruing 95 in the 2004/05 season, lost one game – with, ironically, their singular loss being at the hands of Manchester City.

City this season have set the Premier League on fire, setting a record points and goals total after just 11 games played, and bookie Skybet is offering 10/1 on the Sky Blues going through this season unbeaten.

The same bookies also offer just EVENS on City scoring 104 or more goals this season, which would be a new Premier League record, and 4/1 on them beating the afore-mentioned 95 points record held by Chelsea.

For City to emulate neighbours United triple winning feat of the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League, you can get 40/1 – which seems quite an attractive proposition for the odd tenner.

Should you feel that the City juggernaut will ultimately skid and fail to deliver anything, then Skybet offer you nearly 3/1 (11/4) that no trophy will be won at all by the Sky Blues.

There’s little to suggest that this Manchester City team cannot go down in history as one of the best ever squads to grace the English top flight….whether they can go down as THE best team ever though will be fascinating to see.
