Everton could pay Watford £15m for manager Marco Silva

Everton are still looking for a permanent replacement for Ronald Koeman. The former manager was sacked on October 23. The Toffees may be ready to turn the team over to another Dutchman as Louis van Gaal is being considered as the team’s new boss. However, there is still a chance the club could land their number one choice, Marco Silva, from Watford.

Van Gaal has become on of the favourites to land the Everton job. The team’s original desire was to sign Watford’s Marco Silva. However, Watford are unwilling to let the manager go. Silva only joined Watford in the summer and has completely turned around the Hornets this term.

Silva is the preferred manager for Everton to sign, but due to Watford not wanting him to go, he has slide down the pecking order in likely managers to take over.

While Everton have gone nearly a month with temporary boss David Unsworth in charge, many fans have become fed up with the team’s hierarchy. Everton have been accused of taking too much time to appoint a new manager, especially after the club spent heavily in the summer transfer market.

The 2017-18 season was supposed to be a season for Everton to fight for the top four. However, that has not happened. Everton are just three points above relegation, and have won just once in their last six matches.

Several bookmakers, including Ladbrokes, have listed Van Gaal as even money to land the Everton position.

The Mirror reports Everton have offered Watford’s owners £8.5 million to sign Silva. It is believed Watford will let Silva go, but must be compensated with £15m to do so.

Watford are currently eighth in the Premier League with 18 points after 12 games.
