Former Manchester City star Robinho sentenced to nine years in prison for sexual assault

Former Manchester City star Robinho has been sentenced to nine years in prison. The forward has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in a Milan nightclub.

Robinho and five other men have been found guilty of the 2013 assault on a 22-year-old Albanian female in a Milan nightclub. The sexual assault occurred while Robinho was playing for AC Milan.

The sentence will not begin until after Robinho has appealed the verdict. The Brazilian has continually maintained his innocence and he could be acquitted on appeal.

Robinho played for Manchester City from 2008 to 2010, and was one of the original members of the club when it made its initial transformation into the team it is today. He is currently playing in Brazil for Atletico Mineiro.
